CD Replication and DVD Replication ServicesWhat is Replication?Replication is the term used for the manufacturing process of making multiple versions of your CD or DVD, economically replication makes sense when a 1000 units or more is required. You supply Media Matters with your master disc and an exact copy of this is manufactured. This process consists of four distinct stages:
A glass master is a piece of glass substrate from which the stamper is created. The stampers are used on the injection moulding lines to press (or Stamp) the metalic layer of the disc. The metalised layer is then coated with a lacquer, this is then UV cured, the final stage of the manufacturing process is to test the disc or any imperfections.
After manufacturing, the disc is then printed with your artwork. This will either be by Screen or Litho printing processes, the choice of printing process is usually decided atthe manufacturing plant depending on the nature of the artwork, as one process can look better than the other. Like the majority of replication service providers in the UK, Media Matters Technology use replication partners based outside of the UK for replicating CDs and DVDs, Media Matters manufacturing partners are based in France and the Czech Republic. What is the turnaround time for Replication? The typical time for any replicationfrom any supplier is 10 working days from approval of your artwork proofs, it is possible for this be less than this, but when planning your project please do bare this in mind a day or so can sometimes be saved, but in general the creation of the glass master and stamper does take sometime and this process cannot be speeded up. Please do contact us to discuss your project, it is important that we plan you production from the date you need you product to be ready, do also bare in mind that certain times of the year are busier for the replication industry such as the third quarter up to Christmas. If the manufacturing time for replication is too long for your requirements, all is not lost. Media Matters Technology have a large duplication capacity and we can easily print and duplicate around 1000 or 2000 CDs or DVDs in a fairly short space of time. Again please do contact us to discuss your project. What is the difference between Replication and Duplication? When anything over a 1000 discs is required, Replication is the cheaper option, with a production turnaround of typically 10 working days. Replication is a manufacturing process and is used for the production of a 1000 or many 1000s of DVDs, CDs, and Blu-ray media. Duplication is the transfer of your CD or DVD to a pre manufactured recordable disc, it has a printable surface to which we print your artwork image. Media Matters Technology can easily print up to around 2000 discs in house in about 5 working days. |
