Basic CD and DVD Packaging Solutions

At Media Matters we understand that budgets can be tight, despite the reputation of CD and DVD media being durable media, they are very susceptable to scratching, and the data can therefore easily become corrupted. A plastic or paper sleeve is an economical way to package your disc allowing the end user to receive the disc in perfect condition.

Printed Card Sleeves

We are all familiar with the printed card sleeve, one normally falls out of your Sunday paper each weekend. But what you may not realise is how cost effective a card sleeve can be, for production runs over 1000 units they can be remarkably cheap, and even for shorter runs digitally printed sleeves provide great value for money, whilst providing you with a very professionally finished product. at an economical price. Other versions of the card sleeve include a Lancing Pack. This version gives you four printed panals, with the CD, DVD or Blu-ray inserted to the opened centre of the sleeve.

Jewel Cases

CD Jewel cases are the traditional way of packaging CD's (and in some cases DVDs aswell), they are a great way of packaging a disc, especially if you need to insert a booklet of information with the disc, a jewel case will easily take a booklet of up to 32 pages and are also available for multiple discs.

Slimline Jewel Cases

Slimline cases are half the width of a standard jewel case, which has a number of benefits with regards to storage and mailing or shipping costs. A slimline case is available with a two or four page insert to the front of the case.

Super Jewel Box

Other options include the Super Jewel Box, the successor to he original CD jewel case. The Super Jewel Box offers many design improvements over the old CD jewel case, plus it looks and feels so much better!

DVD Cases

DVD case and DVD Disc

DVD case and disc DVD cases, traditionally used for DVD media are now increasingly being used to package CDs as they provide a more professional finish which is also more cost effective and durable than the traditional CD jewel case.

Case are available in various colours as well black and clear versions, an inlay can be insert to the case which covers the front spine and rear of the case. With transparant cases it also possible to print the inlay to both sides, with reverse being readable when the case is opened. A DVD case can also accept a 32 page booket which is clipped to the inside of the case.

DVD cases are also available for multiple discs, typically with a capacity of up to 12 DVDs or CDs.

Digipaks

Digipaks are a popular choice for CD, DVD or Blu-ray packaging and are available in two different dimensions CD Digipaks which are 120mm x 120mm and DVD Digipaks which are 180mm x 120mm. They are all available with a minimum of four printable panals and are capable of holding single or muliple discs.

The digipak is primarily made of printed card, with the CD or DVD being held in place by a clear plastic tray, resulting in an environmentally friendly packaging design that is also an attractive packaging proposition.
